A-Frame Metal Roof Replacement for Residential Barn

Project Overview

When a homeowner in Michigan reached out to Equity Roofing, her barn’s roof was struggling to hold its own against the elements. The top A-frame section of the barn was the focus: it needed a fresh, durable metal roof that would protect the structure for decades to come.

She wasn’t just looking for the lowest price. She wanted a team that would treat her property with care, communicate clearly, and deliver quality craftsmanship from start to finish.

The Challenge

The homeowner came to us with a few clear priorities:

  • Protect the A-frame section of her barn with a long-lasting roofing solution

  • Replace deteriorating fascia boards on the slopes being worked on

  • Preserve the character of the barn, including the lightning rods and weather vane

  • Avoid damage to the rest of the structure during installation

The existing roof required no tear-off, which kept the scope clean. But the work still required a metal roof installation over 1x4 strapping, new fascia boards in treated lumber, and careful handling of specialty items like the lightning rod assembly and weather vane.

The homeowner’s top concern throughout the process was communication and professional conduct on-site. This was a property she cared about deeply, and she expected us to treat it the same way (which, fortunately, we always do.)

The Solution

Equity Roofing installed a Tuff Rib exposed-fastener metal roof over the A-frame section of the barn. Tuff Rib metal is known for its strength, weather resistance, and low maintenance profile, making it an ideal fit for a structure like this.

Here’s what the installation included:

  • 21 squares of Tuff Rib metal roofing in Tan (smooth finish)

  • Raptor Underlayment installed over existing 1x4 strapping

  • New fascia boards on the A-frame slopes, using treated lumber for long-term durability

  • Careful removal and reinstallation of the existing lightning rods and weather vane

Our crew confined all work to the A-frame section only so that no other areas of the barn were disturbed. Photos were uploaded to CompanyCam throughout the project to document the process in real time.

"I was impressed with Equity Roofing from the onset. I called them to ask about replacing a barn roof. Eric, the salesman, was prompt, respectful of my time and had excellent advice. Catherine, the coordinator, was on top of communicating any changes in scheduling. The crew worked quickly and safely, they were all super friendly and efficient. Eric, the site supervisor, is super friendly and it was obvious how proud of his team, he is. I would absolutely recommend Equity Roofing for roofing work. Their pricing is fair, the communication is top-tier, and the work is done to our expectations and done quickly.” —Alita Hill, Verified Google Review

The Results

This barn is ready to face Michigan’s strong storms and long winters with a strong metal roof that looks striking on its A-frame section. The lightning rods and weather vane were reinstalled exactly as specified, preserving the barn’s original look.

From first contact to final walkthrough, communication was one of our top focuses. We were being trusted with a building that meant a lot to the homeowner, and we don’t take that responsibility lightly.

The completed roof is backed by a 15-year workmanship warranty on the metal roofing system, along with a 50-year warranty on the ProZ Fasteners used to secure the panels.
