Project Overview
This home in Williamsport needed more than a new roof. The metal roofing, the siding, the soffit and fascia, and the gutters all came due at once, which is the kind of project that either gets handled as one coordinated job or turns into a season of overlapping contractors. Equity Roofing took on the whole exterior: 22.5 squares of metal roofing, 22 squares of siding, and every trim and drainage detail in between. The crew was on the property for a few weeks.
Two problems defined this project.
The first was structural. Our roof inspection found four separate areas of damaged sheathing, decking that had given way and would have compromised a brand-new roof installed over top of it. Replacing it properly, rather than covering it, was the homeowner's clearest priority from the first conversation.
The second was timing. The homeowner had another party installing five skylights (three on the front slope, two on the back), and they had to go in before the metal went down. The siding he selected was a long-lead item that would not arrive on a moment's notice. Start too early and the finished roof gets opened back up for someone else's work; start too late and the siding holds the entire project hostage. Everything had to land in the right order the first time.
Equity Roofing set the install window for late August specifically to give the skylights and the siding order room to arrive on schedule, then handled the exterior as a single continuous project rather than a series of separate trips.
22.5 squares of black textured metal in a Pro appearance panel, over synthetic underlayment on lath
Four areas of damaged sheathing cut out and replaced, including three sheets of decking, documented before the new panel went on
Standard ventilation throughout
Equipter used on site to keep tear-off debris off the lawn and landscaping
22 squares of LP SmartSide in Midnight Shadow over a single-layer tear-off
Black soffit and fascia to finish the trim line against the dark siding and roof
Porch area left without soffit, per the homeowner's preference
Existing gutters and guards removed and hauled away
New 6" K-style gutters in copper color, hung to match the original configuration
This home went from a classic white panel and red brick to a sleek, modern look with a new roof, walls, trim, and drainage. The decking that started the conversation was replaced rather than papered over, so the new metal roof sits on sound structure. The skylights went in ahead of the roof exactly as planned, and the long-lead siding arrived without stalling the schedule.
The homeowner's own account of the work, left as a five-star Google review:

“Experience with Equity Roofing couldn't have gone better. From quote to install, the project was seamless. All the guys were courteous, punctual, and professional. Workmanship was great, they went the extra mile with everything. They did our roof, siding, soffit, fascia, and gutters so they were at our house for a few weeks. They kept the jobsite clean and organized and communicated every step of the way. Would absolutely use these guys again in a heartbeat.” |
