Your Roof Warranties, Explained

Here's what each of your warranties covers, how we register them for you, and the five steps we take if you ever need to file a claim.

Registered on Your Behalf

We Handle the Paperwork

Once your project is complete and paid for, we begin the registration process. It depends on how quickly Owens Corning processes it on their end, but here's what to expect:

  • We submit your warranty to Owens Corning within 1 week of your final payment
  • Your certificate arrives from Owens Corning in 2 to 5 weeks
  • Workmanship coverage is documented on your signed contract, with no separate certificate

What's Covered

Three Levels of Coverage

Workmanship Warranty

Our guarantee that your installation is done correctly. If something goes wrong because of how your roof was put on, like a missing nail or a pipe boot that wasn't sealed, that's on us.

  • Shingles: 10 years
  • Exposed fastener metal: 15 years
  • Standing seam metal: 25 years
  • Siding and gutters: 10 years

Manufacturer's Warranty

This covers the materials themselves, not the installation. If a shingle fails in a way that isn't normal wear and tear, that's the manufacturer's responsibility.

Because Equity Roofing is an Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor, we can offer their highest tier of material coverage: 50 years. For exposed fastener metal roofs, we use ProZ fasteners, which carry their own 50-year material warranty.

System or Extended Warranty

The top tier, combining material and workmanship coverage into a single, unified protection plan. Access to this level is tied directly to a contractor's status, and our Platinum Preferred standing with Owens Corning is what makes it available to our customers.

If Something Goes Wrong

How to File a Warranty Claim in 5 Steps

  1. Call the office

Call Equity Roofing and choose the option for existing projects. If your Customer Success Manager isn't available at that moment, anyone else on our team can start the process with you.

  2. We open a callback ticket

Every warranty concern is logged as a callback ticket in our system right away. The ticket follows your issue through every stage until it's resolved and you've confirmed you're satisfied.

  3. We schedule an inspection

We don't diagnose over the phone. We show up, get eyes on the problem, and document what we find. You'll receive the same annotated photos and video walkthrough you got during your original inspection.

  4. We fix it

We're not going to squeeze something on and call it done. If a shingle needs to come off and be replaced, we replace it. If a pipe boot fails, we replace the boot. We've gone back and replaced entire sections of roofing when needed.

  5. We close the loop

Once the repair is complete, our service crew documents what was done, we close the ticket, and you'll get a follow-up asking how satisfied you are with the resolution.

If the issue looks like defective material rather than an installation error, we handle the Owens Corning claim on your behalf. We communicate with their team directly and coordinate anything they need, whether that's removing a sample shingle, sending it to their lab, or meeting a rep on site.

Roofing is skilled labor performed by human beings, in varying weather, on roofs that are all slightly different. Human error isn't a reflection of a bad company. It's a reflection of reality.

The question worth asking isn't whether a roofer has ever made a mistake. It's what they do to make things right.
